Rolling Stone (11/8/01, p.45) - 3.5 stars out of 5 - "...Solid rock...the black-chrome edge in Osbourne's voice adds a layer of thrill to the album's chunky surging...He's never done it better." Spin (1/02, p.108) - 6 out of 10 - "...Osbourne vaults from semi-tender Diane Warren-like ballads to full-on arena screamers to environmentalist paeans..." Q Magazine (11/01, p.126) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...Arguably his best work since 1981's DIARY OF A MADMAN...this is a subtle updating of his signature heavy rock..." The MadMan Gives Rebirth To Real Rock...Again. The Godfather of Heavy Metal has once again given a desperately needed resurgeance to rock and heavy metal with his new album Down To Earth. It is one of the Greatest albums I have ever heard in my life. Ozzy's voice steps into another phase of greatness and keeps his menacing laugh with it. Complimented by The jack-of-all-trades Zakk Wylde's Immensely tremendous guitar work. Compliments due to zakk-he combines the heavy raunchyness of his Black Label Society Guitar styling along with his unique melodic drive he has always given with Ozzy. He plays every song the way it should be played, and makes everything perfect. Robert Trujillo performs powerful pulsating bass lines and Mike Bordin (also known for his work with Faith No More)plays his heart out, or should i say his dreads out, on every song and does a great job on his drum beats on this album. This entire album gives me that undescribable feeling that only Ozzy can give you, and it would make Randy Rhoads (R.I.P.) proud. Many of the songs in their own unique way, whether it be lyrically, musically, or both, give me the theories and impressions and feelings that this album is somewhat of a continuation of some of ozzys great songs and almost like a closure on them. And at the same time, it is like Ozzy took these songs straight out of a diary or something. There's so much I could say about this album. It truly is a classic. And it has the elements of a modern rock album mixed with the ever so classic and unique styles and sounds that only the Lovable Loon himself can provide you with. From his letter-like song to his fans "Gets Me Through" to his John Lennon "Imagine"/Ozzy "Revelation (Mother Earth)" --Esque ballad "Dreamer" to his Schitzophrenic madness of "Can You Hear Them" This album has all you can ever want and need in life and in music, and it even has more than that. Ozzy is the best, and there will be no other like him. Let the madness never end.... Submitted by HAIRPICK@aol.com in Staten Island, NY, USA
